Policies & Agreements
The terms that govern your use of the GrowthBud website and free tier. Tap a section to expand it.
GrowthBud LLC (“GrowthBud,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the website at growthbud.com and a free-tier version of the GrowthBud platform. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
What this policy covers, and what it does not
This policy applies to:
- Our marketing website at growthbud.com.
- The free tier of the GrowthBud product — including the GrowthBud Studio at studio.growthbud.com, which anyone can join by signing up with a work email, and workspaces we set up for selected organizations and the individual users they invite.
This policy does not govern personal information that a paying customer submits into a live GrowthBud workspace about their employees or program participants (for example, learner names, manager email addresses, survey responses, or manager observations). In that arrangement, the customer is the controller of that data and GrowthBud processes it on their behalf under our customer agreement and Data Processing Addendum. If you are a program participant and have a question about your data, please contact your employer’s program administrator.
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Waitlist and demo requests. When you join the waitlist, we collect your name, work email, and whether you currently run a leadership program.
- Scheduling. When you book a meeting with us, our scheduling provider (Calendly) collects your name, email, and the meeting details you submit.
- Free-tier account information. When you sign up for the Studio with your work email, or when we set up a GrowthBud account for you, we collect your email (and, where applicable, your name and company); sign-in is handled by our authentication provider (WorkOS). We also store the content you and your organization create inside the product, and, when you arrive through one of our outreach links, a short tag identifying that link.
- Communications. If you email us or respond to our outreach, we keep that correspondence.
Information we collect automatically
When you use the site or the free product, we and our analytics providers automatically collect:
- Device and browser information, general location inferred from IP address, and pages or screens viewed.
- Product usage events, such as features used and actions taken, through our product analytics provider (PostHog).
- Cookies and similar technologies, as described below.
We do not knowingly collect special categories of sensitive personal information through the site or free tier.
Cookies and tracking
Our marketing website runs essentially cookieless. We use cookies and similar technologies only as follows:
- Essential. A session cookie keeps you logged in to the free product.
- Analytics. We use PostHog and Vercel Analytics to understand how the site and product are used so we can improve them. On this marketing website they run in cookieless mode and store no identifiers on your device. In the free product, once you sign in, analytics are tied to your account (your user ID and email) and store an identifier on your device, so we can see how signed-in features are used. We do not record your sessions, capture what you type, or track you across other websites.
- Third party. When you book a demo, our scheduling provider (Calendly) may set its own cookies, governed by Calendly’s privacy policy.
You can control cookies through your browser settings.
Because we do not track you across third-party websites and do not sell or share your personal information, we honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals as a valid opt-out request where applicable, and we do not treat “Do Not Track” browser signals differently.
How we use information
We use the information we collect to:
- Respond to your inquiries and schedule meetings.
- Provide, secure, and improve the website and the free product, including authentication and error monitoring.
- Understand usage and improve features.
- Follow up with you individually about your inquiry, demo request, or account. We do not currently send marketing email campaigns. If that changes, we will give you a clear way to opt out.
- Detect, prevent, and address security issues, fraud, or technical problems.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share information only as follows:
- Service providers (subprocessors). We share information with vendors who help us run the business, each bound by contract to protect it and use it only for our purposes. These include: Amazon Web Services (hosting), Vercel (frontend hosting and analytics), WorkOS (authentication), Resend (email delivery), Sentry (error monitoring), Google Workspace (email and storage), Attio (customer relationship management), Calendly (scheduling), and PostHog (analytics).
- Legal and safety. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or property of GrowthBud, our users, or others.
- Business transfers. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
Data retention
We keep personal information for as long as needed to provide the site and free product, respond to you, and meet our legal and operational needs. Free-tier account content is retained while your account is active and deleted within a reasonable period after you close it or request deletion.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information, including encrypted connections, managed cloud infrastructure, and access controls through our authentication provider. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your choices and rights
You can:
- Ask us to stop emailing you at any time by replying or contacting us. We do not currently run marketing email campaigns; any email from us is an individual reply or follow-up.
- Access, correct, or delete your free-tier account information by contacting us.
- Control cookies through your browser and the analytics opt-outs above.
California residents (CCPA/CPRA)
To the extent the California Consumer Privacy Act applies to us, California residents have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request access to or deletion of it, to request correction of inaccurate information, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights. We do not sell or share your personal information. To make a request, contact us at hello@growthbud.com. We will verify your request before responding.
Other US states and Canada
Residents of other US states with privacy laws may have similar rights to access, correct, or delete their personal information. Canadian users may have rights under PIPEDA. To exercise any of these, contact us using the details below.
Children
The site and product are intended for businesses and are not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Where we operate
GrowthBud is based in the United States, processes information in the United States, and is intended for businesses and users in the United States. We do not target or offer the site or product to individuals in the European Union, the United Kingdom, or other regions outside the US. If you access the site from elsewhere, you do so on your own initiative and understand that your information will be processed in the US.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date above and, for material changes, provide additional notice where appropriate.
